Donnelley Wildlife Management Area
Old rice plantation impoundments turned wildlife management area, with gators common in the managed wetlands along the dike roads. Warmer months bring the most gator activity, alongside strong wading bird numbers. Roads and dikes run right along the water, so drive slow and keep foot traffic well back from the banks. This is a working WMA, not a manicured park, so come prepared for gravel roads and no facilities.
