Bear Island Wildlife Management Area
Another old rice field WMA on the ACE Basin, with gators common in the managed impoundments along the dike roads, most visible in warmer months. Drive the gravel roads slowly and use the car as your viewing blind rather than walking the dikes near the water. This is a working WMA with seasonal closures for waterfowl hunting, so check the current schedule before visiting. No feeding, and no swimming in the impoundments.
