ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge

Part of one of the largest undeveloped estuaries on the East Coast, this refuge's freshwater impoundments hold gators visible from walking trails and old rice field dikes. Warmer months bring the most gator activity along the impoundment edges. Trails here are quiet and less traveled than the coastal state parks, so go with plenty of daylight and water. Keep back from impoundment edges and never feed wildlife on refuge land.
