Orlando Wetlands Park

A large constructed wetland east of Orlando built to treat reclaimed water, with miles of dike-top trails and a healthy gator population alongside excellent birding. Spring and early summer nesting season is the most popular time to visit, but gators are visible along the water year-round. Trails run right along the water's edge in spots, so keep moving and keep back from the bank rather than stopping close to bask alongside a gator. The park is free but closes seasonally for nesting bird protection, so check hours first.
