Galveston Island State Park

The bay side of this barrier island park has marsh and slough habitat where gators are occasionally seen from the trails and interpretive boardwalk, more often in the warmer months. It's a secondary reason to visit behind the beach, but worth checking on a marsh-side walk. Stay on the boardwalk and trail rather than cutting into the marsh grass for a closer look. No feeding of any wildlife in the park.
