Cameron Prairie National Wildlife Refuge

The Pintail Wildlife Drive here loops through freshwater marsh on the Creole Nature Trail, with gators commonly seen basking along the canal banks from the comfort of the car. Spring through fall is the most active season for both gators and wading birds. The visitor center boardwalk offers a short walk if you want to get out, staying well above the water. As on any refuge, feeding wildlife is against the law.
