Chicot State Park

Louisiana's largest state park lake, Lake Chicot, holds a healthy gator population visible from the shoreline trails and from boats on the water. Warmer months are most reliable for basking gators along the quieter coves. The lake is popular for fishing and paddling, so give any gator you see on the water plenty of open space. Trails stay back from the immediate shoreline in most places, which is the safer vantage point anyway.
